New March series!
cross-Purposes: God on the Cross
Throughout March, our worship will focus on the cross. Our consideration will not just be the reason(s) for Jesus dying on the cross, but also how His death has affected and impacted our lives. What does it mean to be alive? To be a child made right with God?
Join us on this journey!
March 7
Made right with God, when once we were sinners.
Romans 3:21-26
Sinners are justified. To be justified is to have someone else pay the price for your sin – Jesus dying on your behalf – so that God can accept you as “okay with Him” because of the other person’s sacrifice (and even if you still are a sinner!).
March 14
Friends, when once we were enemies.
2 Corinthians 5:18-21 (Phil. 2:1-13)
March 21
Children, when once we were slaves.
Galatians 4:1-7 (Romans 8:14-17)
Slaves are redeemed. To be redeemed is to be bought out of slavery (by a relative who can afford to do so) in order to be freed. But not just that; God “adopts” us into His family as daughters/sons.
March 28
Alive, when once we were dead.
Ephesians 2:1-10
The dead are made alive. Because Jesus rose from the dead,
He gives that same “life” to those who believe!
