Serve our Church

Whatever your talents and whatever time you have to spare, there are many ways to help out here at DUMC!

Hospitality

Our hospitality ministry was formed to welcome and receive all people into our church home in a warm, friendly and generous way, and to create an environment that encourages them to grow in faith and serve.  We are always in need of people to be a part of our Sunday morning Coffee Crew (training provided), to bake breakfast goodies for the first Sunday of the month, and to serve as Sunday Morning Greeters and Ushers.

Worship Support

There are many opportunities to assist in any of the worship services, such as being an usher or greeter.  Greeters are stationed at the main entrance and greet people as they enter the church.  Ushers hand out bulletins, assist people to their seats, and participate in the receiving of the offering.  Special questions can be directed to:
Greeters:  Kerri Murray,  kmurray@doylestownumc.com
Ushers: Mark Farley, mafarley12@gmail.com; Lynn Mills, LynnMills@gmail.com;

Audio/Visual Team

Folks on this team can choose from a number of easy but very important duties that will make each service and event flow smoothly. We need people to change the PowerPoint slides during all three services; sit at the audio board and simply slide the volume regulator during all services and other church events (weddings, funerals etc.); and assist with set up and take down of audio equipment for the Contemporary service. Many hands make light work for all, so please prayerfully consider serving this very important ministry. If we have enough people, we will be looking at a “once every 6 weeks” rotation.

Office & General Volunteer Angels

Volunteers are warmly welcomed.  Each week our Sanctuary Angels straighten the pews and refill the pew pockets. To affirm God’s love for them, a Cookie Angel provides snacks to the A.A. and N.A. Groups that meet at DUMC.  Flower Angels arrange altar flowers. Many Angels cook meals, bake cakes and cookies, sharpen pencils, prepare children’s worship bags, mail cards, do attendance and catalog books. Other opportunities include visiting with the ill or lonely, helping with children’s choirs, gardening, teaching classes, mentoring youth, singing or play music and numerous other activities.  If you have any special talents or gifts you would like to share with your church family, please drop by and let the church office know. We will assist you in identifying an area of need. All angels are deeply appreciated and loved.

Newsletter Angels

The office relies on Newsletter Angels to assemble the monthly newsletter and many other all-church mailings. If you are available to help out, please reach out to:

Flowers

This ministry makes it possible for people to honor someone special or to recognize an event in their lives by ordering a floral arrangement to be put on the altar. It includes decorating the altar area and the sanctuary for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.  We welcome anyone who has experience in floral design or feels called to serve in this area.

Church Work Days

Twice a year, all church members are invited to spend a Saturday afternoon cleaning, repairing, and beautifying the church building and grounds. There are never too many helpers!  Dates and times are announced in the spring and fall. For additional information, please reach out to Rick.
