Galatians 3:25-29

What a wonderful affirmation of our new identity that we have because of our relationship with Jesus Christ! We are God’s daughters and sons. We are now God’s “new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). In the original creation account of Genesis 1 & 2 there may have hinted a hierarchy with men and women. In the new creation, relationships as children of God are governed by complete equality within his family. When we surrender our lives to God (Week 3, Wednesday, Galatians 2:19-21), he puts his Holy Spirit in us (Ephesians 1:13). Paul’s imagery in this Galatians passage is that of Jesus Christ literally being every part of our clothing, identifying our belonging to him. And because of that, being spiritual heirs of Abraham and the Promise(s) given to him!

How has your relationship with Jesus changed the way you see yourself? How has your relationship with Jesus changed the way you see other people regardless of who they are?

Prayer: Praise God! Thank you, Jesus! Hallelujah! When I look into the mirror I may see myself, but I know it is you, my Lord. You have given me a new identity; you are giving me a new character, and you want to make me just like Jesus. May I never forget what you have done for me, always remembering that I am your work in progress. But may I also remember that you are doing the same thing in the lives of my sisters and brothers in my new “Jesus family”; that is why I need to see them no differently than you see me. Forgive me when I do not. Help me celebrate our “oneness in Christ Jesus,” looking towards bringing more into our new family. Amen.
