Galatians 2:15-18

The world – including all the religions – and Satan cannot understand how grace works and what it does to the Christ-follower. God’s undeserved favor and redemption (= “buying” us back from sin and Satan with the price of Jesus, his death on the Cross) is all that is needed to make us righteous (= put us in a right relationship with God). God has made this grace available to anyone who abandons their own futile attempts to work their way into his favor, and simply trusts that what he has already done for us is all that is needed; that’s faith. That doesn’t mean that we’re made perfect (or complete) – we will still sin as long as we live this side of eternity. But that doesn’t mean that Christ will ever approve of our sin and failings. What it does mean is that we will constantly and intentionally need to depend on that same grace as he brings us closer to perfection/completion (= sanctification).
Have you taken that step of faith and trusted in God’s grace in your life yet? Do you keep trusting that that same grace will keep transforming you to be just like Jesus despite the times you fall/fail?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I know I cannot do this on my own. I cannot “save” myself, nor can I complete the work you’ve started in my life on my own. Forgive me when I’ve tried to. That “trying” has tired, discouraged, and defeated me. I put my full trust in you, my Savior and Lord. The world may write me off as a failure, but I know you never will. I trust in the way your salvation works: that you who have begun a good work in me will bring it to completion, through Jesus Christ (see Philippians 1:6). Amen. And Hallelujah!
