What kind of church is Doylestown United Methodist Church?

Although we are affiliated with the United Methodist Church, we welcome persons from all religious denominations and backgrounds into our church family. Our doors are open to all who wish to come and experience God’s unconditional love, grow in their faith, and be the hands and feet of God to those in need.

Our Covenant

DOYLESTOWN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Covenant
 December 2, 2025

What We Believe – Covenant of Welcome and Unity
We at Doylestown United Methodist Church are united by our faith in God and by the ways He is at work in our lives. This covenant is our witness to what brings us together and our promise to be a welcoming community for all.

We affirm that all people are created in the image of God and are of sacred worth. We welcome all individuals including - but not limited to - people of any race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, nationality, and background. We commit ourselves to the full equality and inclusion of all people in the life and ministries of the church.

We commit to creating a safe space for open conversation, where people can share their beliefs and questions without fear of judgment. Through study, prayer, and mutual support, we will encourage each person to deepen their relationship with God while respecting and learning from each other’s unique perspectives.
We understand that within our congregation, there are diverse perspectives on scripture. We honor these different ways of reading and understanding the Bible and seek to hold our differences with grace, fostering an environment where all are free to live out their faith in alignment with their beliefs, grounded in our shared commitment to Christ.

We as a church affirm the definition of marriage as addressed in the UMC book of discipline: “a sacred, lifelong covenant that brings two people of faith - an adult man and woman of consenting age, or two adult persons of consenting age - into union with one another and into deeper relationship with God and the religious community”. We acknowledge that the Book of Discipline entrusts our pastor(s) with freedom of conscience in deciding which weddings to officiate. We affirm that our church will be a place where all weddings may be hosted. At the same time, we respect the right of individual members, including our pastor(s), to step back from direct involvement in any service that may not align with their personal beliefs, always with mutual respect and love.

Together, we will reaffirm our unity in Christ and our commitment to walk alongside one another as we continue to grow in faith. May God guide us as we journey together in unity and purpose, honoring both our diversity and our shared calling to love one another as Christ has loved us.

What Can I Expect in each service?

uplifting service - 9:00 am (Sanctuary and online)

Features uplifting Christian music, led by our worship team, Sounds of Faith, who create an upbeat and lively atmosphere. In addition to the music, there is a sermon based on the scripture readings for that Sunday. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month.

liturgical service - 10:10 am (sanctuary and online)

Consists of responsive readings, unison prayers, scripture, and some of our favorite traditional hymns, which are enhanced by our choirs, brass ensemble, bell choirs, and pipe organ. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month.

11:11 word & worship - 11:11 am (worship center and online)

Offers a relaxed worship experience that is refreshing and serene. The service is led by our worship team, Power of Grace, who create a laid-back, leave-your-problems-at-the-door coffeehouse environment. Coffee and refreshments are served. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month.

What should I wear?

All of our services welcome you as you are. However, if  you'd like an idea of what people wear, we're happy to provide that for you! In our Traditional Services, people tend to dress casual, while our Uplifting and 11:11 Word & Worship Services tend to be more informal. But, again, feel free to come as you are—even if that means wearing Crocs, jeans, and your favorite hoodie!

What is offered for kids on Sunday?

9:00 AM Sunday School (for kids aged preschool (three years) to Sixth Grade)

Our Sunday School is a fun, engaging, Christ-centered program offered to kids ages three (Preschool) through 6th grade, with rolling admission, so you can register at anytime during the academic year. Classes are grouped by age/grade (Preschool-K,  1st-6th grades,). Our volunteer teaching staff is background-checked and Safe Sanctuaries trained–and lots of fun, too!

Kids’ Word (during the 11:11 Word & Worship Service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays)

Kids' Word is our Children’s Worship Service for ages Kindergarten through sixth grade, which takes place during the 11:11 Word & Worship Service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month.  Children enjoy beautiful music during the 11:11 Service and then depart for their own Children’s Service, where they enjoy a Bible story movie with popcorn, games and crafts.

Nursery (8:50 am – 12:15 pm every Sunday)

Our nursery is staffed every week with two adult, background-checked caregivers. Children from birth to five years old are welcome during our services.

What is offered for youth on Sunday?

fusion (9:00 am on second and fourth sundays)

Fusion is our youth Sunday School gathering, and is for all students in grades 7-12. We meet each Sunday from 9:00-9:45 AM, with the exception of Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of each month) and the third Sunday of the month. We start off in the Sanctuary to join the 9:00 AM Uplifting Service for worship. Students may sit together in a group or with their families. After a few songs, there will be an announcement for students to leave for Fusion, and then we go to The Upper Room in the Worship & Youth Center for a collaborative, hands-on learning experience. Plus, we always have hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts!!!

*This format will change in the future when we have students interested in playing instruments and leading worship in Fusion.

CONFIRMATION (10:00 am)

Confirmation is a weekly class for teenagers interested in exploring their faith, preparing to make a profession of faith, and learning more about being active members of the church. Confirmation students will attend classes from mid-September to mid-April.
