Dear DUMC Family and Friends,

Thank you! Thank you for the continued encouragement the Church is receiving from so many in the form of notes, emails, phone calls and donations. Our faith is strong, but your kind words minister to our hearts, our focus, and our creativity. You are an essential part of God’s work through our church and we are so grateful! Your reaching out also helps to know that we are doing some right things. However, we want to make sure we are doing more right things than not, so please take a moment to participate in the survey you received via email on Sunday. If you did not receive the survey, CLICK HERE to complete one. Help us to make a difference in your spiritual life and health by telling us what you need from our virtual Church offerings. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2, NIV)

In addition to our gratitude, I would like to share some exciting offerings that will be coming in June. We will begin a 6-week all-church sermon and small group Rick Warren Bible study, Everything is Possible with God, beginning on June 21 (Father’s day). I encourage you to talk to your current small group, investigate creating a new small group, or talk to your family about being their own small group for this powerful study. Information about how to participate will be available next week. Also in June, we are happy to offer our children a Zoom-based Vacation Bible School experience, The Knights of North Castle, June 22-26, 10am -11am. We’ll be sharing more information next week about how to participate and what fun to expect.

I announced last week that I appointed a godly and wise team (we’re calling it “RESET”) from a cross section of the church to develop a plan for DUMC to Move Forward in this COVID-19 world.  This team is developing a plan with prayerful consideration of His plan, as well as consideration of the safety of each one of us, our families, and our neighbors.  I will be communicating this in the next week or two as we transition to the Yellow Phase of Governor Wolf’s Reopening of Pennsylvania.  Our plan follows the guidelines and recommendations of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. It will include considerations on worship, building usage, and safety protocols necessary for our Church to implement for the immediate future.  This team will continue to meet over the next several months to review and update our plan as conditions change and new information becomes available.

In the meantime, keep praying, keep reaching out to one another in a safe, responsible way, and please be kind and forgiving as we each navigate the road ahead. For more Church news, the Online Compass is attached.  I look forward to celebrating Live Service with you this Sunday at 11 am and invite you to light a candle as we worship together. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

Blessings,

Pastor Sunil
